What To Wear To Your Session

Always consider the location of your shoot. Do you want a fall foliage background? Then go for neutrals, and warm colors. Is your session at a Christmas tree farm? Then consider leaning into fun holiday pops of red and green, sequins and holiday looks. Again, you can never go wrong with neutrals and classic looks that won't be as seasonal, and more year-around styles.

Please feel free to text or email me photos of your outfits and combinations if you'd like my opinion.

Neutral / Evergreen

Off-white, gray, cream, taupe, etc. Colors that can be worn all year, not just Fall and holidays.

.

Fall

Natural textures found in linen, knitwear, high-quality denim pieces. Subtle floral patterns, pops of warm colors: mustard, brown, rust, cream, burgundy, and taupe

.

Holiday

Traditional plaids, pops of red or green, jewel tones, sequins, glam!

.

Coordinating

Start with the parents (typically mom) first so we can build an outfit for everyone else based on their look. Moms and Dads are usually the biggest people in the frame and we want to make sure their outfits coordinate before adding outfits for the kiddos. You don't have to be matchy-matchy, mixing fabrics, textures and patterns can be fun! Think about dominant and accent colors.

Accessorize

Hats, scarves, boots, jackets... think about these small items that aren't part of your every day but could elevate the look and be a prop for photos.

What to Avoid

Neon colors, big logos and graphic t-shirts, tiny dots and skinny stripe patterns.

Don't forget to wear shoes that go with the style you are wearing. No athletic shoes, and you can never go wrong with brown or tan shoes/boots!
